Honoured master of sciences and engineering of Ukraine (2003), laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology (2002).

1991-1997 – Director-organizer, Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Ukraine.

1997-2001 – Director of the National Institute of Ukrainian-Russian Relations.

2001-2005 – Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine – Director of the National Institute for International Security Problems.

2005-2007 – Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine for the security issues in the foreign policy sphere – Director of the National Institute for International Security Problems.

2007-2014 – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova.

Since April 2015 – Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
